RESPONSIBILITIES:

The IT Senior Systems Engineer designs and implements computer systems on the Company network according to established department and company policies, procedures and work instructions.

He/she works closely with all other members of the IT Department to provide available, stable, and secure computer systems.

This position requires a professional work ethic within general guidelines, originality and interpretation, referring to management for situations which arise outside of standard procedures and is somewhat challenging and varied in nature.

Errors in work or actions should be contained within working unit or project.

Responsible for the specification, procurement, installation, configuration and maintenance of computer servers for all operating systems, including Microsoft Windows Server and Linux (Red Hat Enterprise).

Responsible for the design, administration and maintenance of computer systems.

Performs or directs regular system monitoring to ensure that the computer systems are available and secure.

Interfaces with Security Analyst to design and implement system security and data assurance.

Ensures all operating systems and software are patched to current versions according to company policy.

Designs Active Directory structure that is maintained by the Help Desk and Systems Engineers that support security directives and auditing requirements.

Documents current and proposed systems using flowcharts, diagrams, and other tools and ensure documents are kept current.

Troubleshoots and resolves server and computer systems problems.

Participates in teams to discover IT business requirements and specify appropriate solutions.

Stays abreast of tools that would improve the effectiveness of the Infrastructure Team.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Reports to the Network Manager. Interfaces with other IT groups (e.g. software, network, Help Desk, etc.) to specify appropriate solutions.

Interfaces with other Company personnel to develop and/or enforce company-wide or enterprise-wide requirements.

The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating equipment where the seeing job is at or within armâ s reach or performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as ones by technicians, service people, etc.

Responsible for designing and maintaining the integrity and security of all computer systems according to established company policy and procedures and with the input of Security Analysts.

Must follow documented change control procedures for audit purposes.

Responsible for ensuring backups of systems are present and tested for disaster recovery and business continuity preparedness.

Responsible for continuous improvement of processes and procedures to increase security and reliability with a goal to reduce the labor required to monitor and enforce those processes and procedures

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelorâ s degree in Computer Science or other technical field plus 6 years of relevant experience; Associates degree in Computer Science or other technical field plus 8 years of relevant experience or equivalent experience; or 10 years of relevant experience

At least 10 yearsâ experience supporting MS Windows environment

Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley a plus

Active Directory (AD) Administration â Expertise in domain migrations, consolidations, and trust relationships

Experience with Group Policy (GPO), and DNS

Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automating domain-related tasks

Understanding of Azure AD and hybrid identity management

Experience with domain controller deployments and decommissioning

Hands-on experience with Windows Server (2012, 2016, 2019, 2022) installation and configuration

Knowledge of server virtualization (VMware)

Strong understanding of Storage (SAN, NAS) and networking concepts (DHCP, DNS, VLANs, Firewalls)

Expertise in OS migrations and upgrades for Windows Server

Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM) for device management

Ability to create and deploy OS images, patches, and software packages

Experience with Windows Update Services (WSUS) and security patching

Integration experience with Intune for modern endpoint management

Strong documentation skills for tracking migrations, troubleshooting steps, and procedures

Experience working in enterprise environments with multiple domains and forests

Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (Network, Security, Desktop Support, etc.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for diagnosing IT issues

Knowledge of cloud services (Microsoft Azure, AWS) and hybrid infrastructure

Ability to document designs, policies, and configurations

Must be willing to work additional hours or nights and weekends as necessary to ensure that systems are operational at all core hours with minimal impact on end computer system users. Must be able to lift 50lbs and work in tight spaces
