Sr Tool and Die Maker with CNC Programming
Basic Purpose
The Tool & Die Maker is responsible for building, repairing, and maintaining facility dies and parts to ensure quality parts for all manufacturing departments. This position requires the ability to train others and be a back up to the Team Leader when necessary.
Responsibilities
Assists with equipment setups, adjustments and installations using a wide variety of precision measuring instruments and devices.
Produces and maintains class "b" tools & dies from detailed drawings, prints & specifications or from verbal instructions. Makes sketches and works from same. Class "b" includes single operation dies and simple progressive dies.
Operates and sets up all tool room equipment as well as punch presses. Has a basic knowledge of heat treating and tool steels.
Assembles die parts on die shoes when furnished by machinists for final assemblies.
Designs simple tools, dies, jigs and fixtures for production areas. Builds drill jigs and fixtures for production areas. Performs troubleshooting as required.
Maintains a safe, orderly and clean work area. Performs preventative maintenance on machinery tools. Completes required paperwork
Able to work in a team environment to include relieving other associates in instances of breaks, absenteeism, vacation or other production requirements.
Performs any other duties as assigned or directed by Team Leader / Supervisor.
Maintains good housekeeping and follows established safety procedures.
Follow all policies, procedures, and work instructions including Employee Handbook, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Manufacturing Operating Procedures (MOPs), Job Safety Analysis (JSAs), and Safety Manual.
Maintain awareness of individual contribution to and impact of the quality, safety, environmental, and product compliance policies and activities; report all quality issues, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions to the proper personnel.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Previously completed a Tool & Die Apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
5-10 years' experience in manufacturing or in a machine shop environment.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
Ability to stand and/or walk, bend, stoop or crouch for at least an 8-hour shift.
Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle or feel machinery, equipment or parts and work near moving mechanical parts.
