Job Title: Senior Asset Protection Advisor

Job Summary

The Senior Asset Protection Advisor (SAPA) is responsible for developing, educating, and leading the implementation of comprehensive Asset Protection and Security programs across assigned retail locations. This role is pivotal in driving strategic loss prevention efforts and ensuring operational compliance through proactive risk identification, sophisticated investigative work, and strong partnerships with store leadership and law enforcement.

The SAPA will conduct thorough investigations into a range of asset protection matters including internal/external theft, Organized Retail Crime (ORC), cash losses, deposit variances, and fraud. This role also assumes leadership responsibilities for complex cases and provides coverage for the Asset Protection Manager as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Mitigation & Process Improvement

Identify and assess internal and external risks related to theft, fraud, and physical security; recommend process improvements to reduce loss exposure.

Evaluate physical security measures (e.g., CCTV, alarms, access control) across retail locations, training centers, and corporate offices.

Investigations & Incident Management

Lead and manage confidential investigations into employee theft, credit card fraud, shrink variances, and other security concerns.

Gather and analyze evidence through interviews, surveillance review, data analysis, and on-site audits.

Partner with law enforcement to conduct complex ORC investigations and robbery incident reviews.

Provide detailed case documentation and recommend appropriate actions including prosecution when warranted.

Store Engagement & Support

Visit stores regularly to engage with leadership, conduct audits, provide training, and address root causes of shrink and operational non-compliance.

Partner with Area Managers to develop localized strategies for loss prevention and policy enforcement.

Strategic Partnerships

Develop and maintain strong relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.

Collaborate with cross-functional departments including Store Operations, Real Estate, and Human Resources to enhance security strategies and evaluate potential store sites.

Project Leadership & Advising

Manage and execute asset protection projects and initiatives requiring advanced investigative and project management skills.

Serve as subject matter expert to regional teams, providing consulting, training, and operational support as needed.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Pre-Law, or related field preferred

3–5 years of experience in retail asset protection or security (store-level experience preferred)

Demonstrated investigative experience, including ORC cases and confidential internal investigations

Expertise in analyzing exception-based reporting (e.g., XBR)

Proficient with physical security tools and merchandise protection technologies

Advanced computer and reporting skills

Existing connections or affiliations with professional law enforcement or asset protection organizations preferred

Reports To: Asset Protection Manager (with indirect influence across Store Operations leadership)

Travel Requirement: Regular travel to assigned stores and occasional overnight travel required.
