Job Description

Job Summary:

The role operates all motorized equipment for Macon Water Authority jobs. Oversees and assists in waterline maintenance and repair. In the absence of the Supervisor, the run crew answers to the Distribution Supervisor.

Responsibilities:

Operate backhoe, bulldozer, televising “CCTV” truck, combination unit, etc., or any rented equipment required for a special job

Operate a variety of equipment used in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the Conveyance/Distribution system

May train new employees in the operation and safety precautions necessary to operate equipment

Opens ditches for installation of mains and services

Loads and unloads pipe at work sites. Places pipes and fittings into an excavated ditch

Operates equipment for other departments when needed

Responds to calls for main breaks

Routinely inspects machinery and services equipment as required

Acts as lead worker on assigned projects

Must be able to perform all duties of WMW I and WMW II

Performs related duties as required or assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

Up to one year of operating experience with heavy equipment

High School Diploma or equivalent

Valid Georgia Drivers License with a Class “A” CDL with a clean driving record

Physical Requirements:

Frequent walking, standing, stooping

Ability to carry 50 pounds or more

Occasionally sitting, crawling, crouching, climbing, and balancing

May occasionally require climbing and traveling over various terrains

Ability to grasp and hold

Environmental Working Conditions:

The position requires some exposure to working outside, insect bites/stings, poisonous plants, and possibly reptiles.

Frequent exposure to dry conditions, high and low humidity, wetness, and inclement weather.

Exposure to dust, outside work, sunburn, and moving objects (such as heavy equipment or road traffic)

Occasional exposure to working over water or working at heights

Exposure to chemicals includes, but is not limited to: Gasoline, Diesel Fuel, Motor Oil, Hydraulic Oil, Natural Gas, Exhaust fumes, Insecticides, Chlorine, Asphalt/Tar
