James River Home Health is hiring a Senior Director of Human Resources to join their team for a full-time position on-site in Chesterfield, Virginia.
James River Home Health & Hospice is seeking a strategic and hands-on Senior Human Resources Director to lead our HR function during a critical growth phase. This role will serve as a key member of the leadership team, responsible for developing and executing human capital strategies that align with our business goals. The HR function currently includes recruitment and benefits administration, employee relations, compliance, HRIS, and engagement.

Responsibilities:
Lead, coach, and develop the existing HR team (HR Director and HR Generalist)
Serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership on workforce planning, talent management, and organizational development
Oversee HR operations, including recruitment, employee relations, compliance, compensation, and benefits
Ensure HR policies and procedures align with best practices and evolving regulatory requirements
Drive performance management, leadership development, and employee engagement initiatives
Act as a culture champion, fostering a high-performance and values-driven environment
Manage risk and ensure legal compliance with federal and state labor laws
Lead HR systems optimization and process improvements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
Minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within healthcare or multi-site organizations.
SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification
Strong knowledge of HR compliance, labor law, and employee relations best practices
Leadership experience leading a small HR team
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to lead through change and build effective cross-functional relationships.
Full-time
