St. Josephs Health has an excellent full-time employment opportunity for a Board-Certified Internal Medicine physician to serve as Assistant Medical Director of the Hospitalist Program at Rome Memorial Hospital, located in Rome, New York.
This leadership opportunity involves a mix of clinical duties and administrative responsibilities in support of the Medical Director, working closely with hospitalist team members, nursing, and non-clinical staff to coordinate care for all admitted patients.
The position averages 40-50 hours per week and offers the chance to influence the programs growth, efficiency, and quality of care. This is a 0.5 FTE clinical / 0.5 FTE administrative position, offering a balance of direct patient care and program leadership responsibilities.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
As Assistant Medical Director, the physician will assist the Medical Director in the following key areas:
Ensuring hospitalist compliance with hospital policies, mission, and values
Supporting quality and performance improvement initiatives
Participating in staffing, scheduling, and census management
Providing direct patient care as needed
Conducting regular meetings with hospitalists and APPs
Mentoring and coaching physicians on quality, communication, and professionalism
Coordinating onboarding and orientation of new providers
Participating in evaluations and annual reviews of hospitalist team members
Supporting interdisciplinary collaboration with the Emergency Department and other clinical areas
Representing the program on hospital committees and quality teams
Assisting with recruitment and operational goals including budgeting and documentation oversight
