Technician, Quality Assurance – Gas Division The purpose of this classification is to prepare skilled engineering drawings for Gas Division projects and systems, collect engineering data, conduct regulatory compliance inspections, or other tasks, as assigned for the Department of Public Utilities.

Essential Functions: Obtains field data, such as topographical elevations, distances, location of other utilities and rights-of-way information.

Conducts regulatory compliance inspections.

Participates in evaluating and certifying division staff.

Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures.

Operates a personal computer and other electronic devices.

Utilizes maintenance, work order, or department-specific software.

Operates or uses various technical equipment, power tools, hand tools, vehicles and supplies in order to complete work assignments.

Communicates with supervisor, other employees, third party service contractors, customers, the public, and other individuals.

Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications Associate degree in Engineering or a related field required; supplemented by one year of experience in gas utility and related systems and functions; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Must reside within a radius of Orangeburg, SC that allows for a 30-minute maximum response to call outs and emergencies.

Specific License or Certification Required Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver's license.

Must obtain and maintain Energy Worldnet (EWN) Master Evaluator certification.

Must maintain certification under the Department of Public Utilities' Operator Qualification Program in compliance with minimum pipeline safety regulations defined in 49 CFR Part 192, Subpart N.
