Job Summary
This position for Operator II - Class B, is for skilled work in the operation of a variety of trucks in the collection of refuse (limbs/brush/leaves) etc. Work is performed under general supervision of the Sanitation Foreman.

Accurately perform proper order of pickups as determined by the route book. The route book is not to be deviated unless changed by the Route Supervisor
Safely operates knuckle boom truck, street sweeper and a lift gate pick-up truck
Accurately reports problems on the route that prevent the Refuse Driver from performing pick up of refuse to the Sanitation Supervisor immediately for verification
Regularly performs routine maintenance and safety checks on trucks and reports any deficiencies to the Sanitation Supervisor
Routinely cleans and fuels trucks
Sometimes supervises crewman assisting on route
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Completion of a standard high school diploma, GED or equivalent from a regionally or nationally accredited school.
Licenses(s): Valid Georgia Class B Commercial driver's license.
Experience: One (1) year experience in operating a variety of heavy trucks or, any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Knowledge of:
The operation and maintenance techniques of knuckle boom trucks, street sweepers, etc
The operation and application of power tools and other various tools
State and local road safety rules and regulations
Safety practices and procedures
Skill and Abilities:
Recognize hazardous waste
Perform manual labor effectively
To understand and follow verbal and written instructions
To communicate using a two (2) way radio
To establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and work in a team environment
To safely operate light construction equipment
Ability to pass and maintain Flagger Certification card

Regularly required to lift up to 50 lbs and occasionally required to lift up to or over 75lbs.

The noise level for this job tends to be moderate to loud.

This job occasionally requires working nights, weekends and/or holidays and on-call after hours, as needed.
