Ruby on Rails Developer

Overview:

We’re looking for a versatile and motivated Ruby Developer to join a fast-paced team supporting complex systems in the global trade and logistics space. This role requires a true full-stack mindset, with roughly 50/50 time split between development and support. Our ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, is confident jumping into multiple layers of a system, and enjoys solving real-world business challenges in a technically complex landscape.

What You'll Do:

Maintain and enhance a Rails-based user interface integrated with Ruby and Java back-end components

Support existing code and infrastructure while also contributing to new development efforts

Collaborate with a small, agile team to solve challenging problems related to tariffs and global trade systems

Troubleshoot issues, write clean and maintainable code, and proactively support deployment and performance optimization

Work closely with the founder and technical lead to align development priorities with business goals

Tech Stack:

Languages/Frameworks: Ruby, Rails, Java, JSON

Database: PostgreSQL (moderate knowledge required)

Tools: Git, Jira, and other common dev tools

Hosting: Currently on a private cloud (no deep DevOps required)

You Might Be a Fit If You:

Have 3–5 years of experience as a software developer, with strong Ruby/Rails exposure

Are confident working across the stack (front-end and back-end)

Have a working knowledge of PostgreSQL and can read/write moderate SQL

Are comfortable troubleshooting and supporting live systems

Are curious, self-driven, and open to learning new parts of a business domain

Are eligible to work in the U.S. and are looking for a long-term opportunity
