Sr. Accountant

Job Title: Senior Accountant (Contract-to-Hire)

Location: McLean, VA (Hybrid/Onsite)

Compensation: $50/hour (Contract-to-Hire)

Hybrid: 3 days in office

Start Date: ASAP

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team in McLean, VA with a multi-billion dollar organization. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering competitive hourly pay and the potential for long-term growth within a dynamic organization. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, with a focus on accruals, joint venture financials, and financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and review monthly accruals to ensure accurate financial reporting

Prepare joint venture financial statements in compliance with applicable accounting standards

Conduct trial balance fluctuation analysis and identify key variances

Perform month-over-month (MoM) trend analysis to support financial insights and decision-making

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze financial data

Assist with month-end close and ensure timely and accurate reporting

Maintain and improve Excel-based models and reports

Support external audits and provide documentation as needed

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

5+ years of relevant accounting experience

Strong knowledge of accrual-based accounting

Advanced Excel skills required (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, etc.)

Experience with joint venture accounting and financial reporting preferred

CPA or CPA track is a plus

Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Excellent communication and organizational skills
