The Applications Engineer serves customer base and offsite account managers by analyzing RFQ (Request for Quote) and customer specifications, preparing costing documents and technical written proposals for OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and EMP (Equipment Modernization Projects). Complete proposals require inclusion of costing and gross margin data and technical presentations such as mechanical drawings and layouts to support comprehensive technical solutions for the customer.
Job Functions:
Review request for quotation (RFQ) for clarification and definition. Contacting offsite account managers and customers for further clarification and definition.
Review “provided” customer specifications (mechanical drawings and technical write-ups) for scope of supply analysis.
Develop new technical proposals.
Design and/or draw concepts to meet customer requirements via CAD (20% of proposals prepared required).
Acquire costing data for computing margin pricing via company computer systems and programs.
Calculate selling price according to company guidelines, procedures, and processes.
Maintain organized proposal logs and files in company designated databases.
Create and maintain full costing traceability and accuracy.
Develop and implement customer specific proposals.
Qualifications:
Relevant bachelor's degree (four-year college or university) in engineering (mechanical preferred) or equivalent 3 to 10 equivalent work experience.
2 – 5 years of relevant experience in Sales, Engineering, or Proposal Group with bachelor’s degree.
Based in LaGrange, GA office, with a hybrid work schedule
Knowledgeable in MS programs (i.e., Excel, Word), database programs, and CAD. Basic macro computer language skills a plus.
Mechanical drawing reading and basic algebra calculation skills are a requirement. Competitor product knowledge a plus.
