Keystone Compliance, a regulatory compliance test lab located in Durham, NC, is currently seeking candidates for a Senior Product Safety Project Engineer position. The successful candidate will possess a strong work ethic, excellent character, and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Key Responsibilities:
· Design and develop product safety test plans in accordance with NRTL and industry standards (such as UL, IEC, and other relevant standards).
· Conduct and oversee product safety testing, including electrical, mechanical, fire, and environmental safety evaluations.
· Analyze test results, identify potential compliance issues, and recommend corrective actions or design changes.
· Lead troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts related to test failures and product non-conformances.
· Ensure accurate documentation of test results, procedures, and reports, adhering to ISO-17025 and NRTL requirements.
· Work closely with clients to communicate test results and provide guidance on compliance solutions and corrective actions.
· Assist in maintaining test equipment, ensuring that it is properly calibrated and operating efficiently.
· Contribute to the continuous improvement of test methods, ensuring they are up to date with regulatory changes and best practices.
· Support the Product Safety Lab Manager in preparing for and passing external audits and maintaining ISO-17025 accreditation.
· Mentor and train junior test technicians and other team members on product safety testing methods and standards.
· Stay up-to-date with evolving safety regulations and industry trends, providing insights and recommendations for process improvements.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field.
· Minimum of five years of experience in medical product safety testing or a related field, preferably in an ISO-17025 accredited lab or NRTL environment.
· In-depth knowledge of product safety standards and regulations (UL, IEC, CE, etc.).
· Strong understanding of testing methodologies, laboratory best practices, and quality management systems (QMS).
· Demonstrated ability to interpret technical standards and develop corresponding test plans and protocols.
· Excellent analytical skills with the ability to diagnose product failures and recommend corrective actions.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to clients and colleagues.
· Proficient in writing technical reports that are accurate, concise, and meet industry documentation requirements.
· Hands-on experience with test equipment and data acquisition systems.
· Familiarity with ISO-17025 accreditation and NRTL compliance processes.
· Proficient with MS Office and CAD software
· Be as comfortable working with tools as working on a keyboard
· Ability to lift and handle equipment weighing up to 75 lbs
· Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods while conducting tests.
· Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer. Citizenship must permit compliance with the requirements of ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations)
