We are currently seeking a Power Systems Studies Professional Engineer (P.E.) to support one of our clients in the Energy Corridor Area. This is a contract on-site role with a well-established engineering organization specializing in electrical power systems across multiple sectors, including oil and gas, power generation, and renewable energy. The pay will be between $80-$100 per hour and provide insurances, 401k and other benefits.

The ideal candidate will provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior engineers while also serving as the Engineer of Record on key electrical engineering study projects. The role involves direct client interaction, project management responsibilities, and participation in key industry events and conferences.

Responsibilities:

Supervise and mentor junior engineers (EITs), reviewing their work products and supporting their path toward Professional Engineer licensure.

Serve as Engineer of Record on assigned projects, developing technical solutions and ensuring quality deliverables.

Manage client relationships and lead project execution from initial scope development through final delivery.

Review and prepare technical documentation including electrical equipment specifications (MCCs, switchgear, substations), one-line diagrams, cable/conduit schedules, and ground grid designs.

Conduct complex engineering studies, including short circuit, relay coordination, arc flash, grounding, motor acceleration, voltage drop, load flow, and stability analysis using software such as SKM and ETAP.

Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 70E.

Collaborate with vendors and multi-disciplinary engineering teams on technical matters.

Support the preparation of procurement documents and evaluation of vendor equipment.

Attend industry conferences and events; maintain professional licensure and expand licensure to other states as needed.

Qualifications:

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.

10 to 20 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering studies and design.

Strong background in power distribution (low and medium voltage) and protective relaying, with familiarity in the design of substations and electrical systems for the oil and gas sector.

Proficiency in power system modeling and analysis tools such as SKM and ETAP.

Working knowledge of equipment selection and sizing, electrical design documentation, and industry-standard testing procedures.

Familiarity with SEL and Multilin relay systems is a plus.

Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.

Ability to travel to client sites and attend industry events as needed.
