The Conservatory for the Performing Arts at Stephens College invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track, faculty position. The Conservatory offers a three-year, two-summer BFA in Technical Theatre/Stage Management.

This position includes both academic and design responsibilities. Based on expertise, courses taught might include Vectorworks, theatre and design, stage management, scenic design, lighting design, scenic painting, and other related courses.

The successful candidate will have academic and/or professional scenic design experience. Additional experience in lighting design and technical direction is preferred. Mastery of digital design techniques is required (specifically Vectorworks).

The production schedule includes six MainStage shows per year and one Senior Showcase. Summer opportunities at the Okoboji Summer Theatre are available, but are not required. The successful candidate will serve as the scenic designer, or mentor of student scenic designers for all MainStage productions.

In addition to the BFA in Technical Theatre/Stage Management, the Conservatory offers BFAs in Theatrical Costume Design, Musical Theatre, Acting, and Interdisciplinary Theatre Studies.

Responsibilities:

Teach/Design the equivalent of 12 credit hours per semester.

Mentorship and advising.

Collaboration with program chairs, faculty, directors, other designers, and/or guest artists.

Encourage and maintain professional standards.

Recruitment duties as assigned.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Theatre generalist.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

MFA in theatre-related field. MFA in Scenic Design is preferred. (Professional equivalency will be considered.)

Demonstrated professional experience.

Experience teaching at a higher learning institution.
