Job Responsibilities

Serves as an Accountant/Fiscal Analyst in the Budget & Finance Department of the South Carolina Military Department. Develops methods and processes for monitoring financial transactions as the Billeting Accountant for the Agency. Coordinates and performs the review of all Month End Close Checklist with a final report to the Chief Financial Officer. Evaluates the General Ledger codes to ensure Real Estate, Information Technology, and Leases are compliant with regulations and make necessary corrections by Journal Entries. Serves as the State Operations Capital Project Accountant and Lease Accountant. Analyzing financial activities with various reports and procedures. Creates reconciliations and entries for State Active Duty events for proper reimbursements and clearing of account. Assists with financial research for Requests for Information during audits. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and professional experience in a related area such as accounting, auditing, finance, or banking. A bachelor's degree with multiple accounting courses may be substituted for the required work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, finance or business administration. A minimum of two (2) years fund accounting in SC State Government utilizing the South Carolina Enterprise Information System (SCEIS) (FI and FM modules).

Additional Comments

Expert knowledge of principles, practices and theories of accounting, banking, budgeting and financial management. General knowledge of federal military regulations and state accounting systems and procedures. A thorough knowledge of principals, practices, theories and terminology of accounting. Proficient knowledge of computer systems and software to include the Microsoft Office suite specifically Outlook and Excel. Ability to plan and implement agency financial management programs. Expert knowledge of principles, practices and theories of accounting, banking, budgeting and financial management. General knowledge of federal military regulations and state accounting systems and procedures. A thorough knowledge of principals, practices, theories and terminology of accounting. Proficient knowledge of computer systems and software to include the Microsoft Office suite specifically Outlook and Excel. Ability to plan and implement agency financial management programs. May be required to work extended hours as necessary during emergencies or busy times of the fiscal year. Overnight and extended stays may be required to support ongoing operations, and during attendance at conferences, workshops, off-site meetings and seminars.
