This is a highly skilled specialized job classification within the Palm Tran Maintenance Department requiring advanced technical work performing maintenance, installations, programing, diagnosing, and repairing of the Transit Fleet Electronic Systems. These vehicle electronic systems include but not limited to Dispatching Enterprise Systems, Audio/Video Systems, Radio/Communications Technologies, On Board Media Systems and Electronic Signage, Fare Collection Systems, Fleet GPS Tracking Systems, Wireless Routers and Cellular Data Communication [Public Address, Voice Annunciation, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), Digital Video Recorders (DVR’s), Automatic Vehicle Locators, and Mobile Two-Way Radios].
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or certified recognized certificate (GED); plus, four (4) years related vehicle electronic and/or mechanical experience or any equivalent combination of related training and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License. Must possess standard set of tools to perform repairs to transit electronic equipment. Ability to work at the height of a 20-foot ladder. Ability to walk, sit, stand and squat frequently, occasionally lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. Ability to comply with drug and alcohol testing provisions for safety-sensitive employees as required by the FTA, Department of Transportation (49 CFR, Parts 40 and 655).
PREFERENCES
Associates Degree in Electronics; or completion of a two (2) year technical/vocational electronics programs; or 1000 hours of military training in electronics. Experience performing installation, repairing, maintaining and troubleshooting electronic systems in marine or aftermarket automobile electronics, using MS Word/Office/Excel/computerized maintenance management system. Electronics technician certificate from ISCET, APCO, or a Federal Communications Commission General Radio Telephone (GROL) or Amateur Radio License.
