Apprentice Meter Technician / Meterman Helper

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Under supervision, reads meters as required; un loads, loads, sorts and stores meters; assists in changing meters; cleans, paints, lubricates and makes minor repairs to equipment and devices; performs minor operations on order meters and reg ulators for the removal, connection, disconnection, test, re pair and maintenance of single-phase, two and three-wire meters; main tains accurate time and material records, including accounting involved in assigned work as required; operate a motor vehicle safely as required; does other related work as re quired.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Some knowledge of various types of instruments used by the Meter Department; ability to do reasonably heavy physical labor; ability to work under conditions that require extreme care; ability to operate a motor vehicle; dependability; ability to follow oral or written instructions; ability to work effec tively with others.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

Graduation from high school, trade school or the equivalent in experience and training.
