General Statement of Duties

The Forsyth County Tax Administration Department is seeking to hire a highly energetic and motivated professional with great organizational, computer and communication skills for its Department IT Support Technician. This position works in an environment where computer technology is an essential part of the everyday business functions of the department. The Department IT Support Technician trains staff on the use of essential computer systems and hardware, and provides ongoing support to users including but not limited to software training, technical assistance with basic computer functions, and the creation and proper management of email, shared calendars, documents, etc.

This position may manage some internal departmental databases and be responsible for adding and managing user accounts in these systems, generate and review reports, manage daily workflow processes, develop user documentation, or assist in evaluating hardware, software and new technology.

A successful candidate should have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Considerable knowledge of computers and related information technology devices.

Considerable knowledge of the software packages utilized.

Ability to communicate effectively with users of varying skill levels.

Ability to work under time constraints and other demands.

Ability to develop and present computer-related training.

Minimum Education and Experience

Graduation from high school or equivalent and three years of relevant experience working with computer systems or technology.

Must have a valid N. C. driver's license.

A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.

Explains system capabilities and trains users on one or more systems.

Assists users in identifying and resolving system problems.

Assists in maintaining users, user rights and privileges to various software programs.

Monitors system performance and scheduled work processes.

Performs related work as required.
