Job Purpose

Are you detail-oriented and committed to public safety? The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is seeking a dependable and organized Compliance Clerk. This part-time position plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with sex offender registration laws in Lexington County.About the Role:

As a Compliance Clerk, you will complete quarterly and bi-annual registrations for convicted sex offenders residing in Lexington County. You’ll verify and update records, collect applicable registry fees, and support investigative efforts to address non-compliance. Your accuracy and attention to detail will help ensure critical data is maintained in our systems and shared across law enforcement partners.Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct offender registration updates, including addresses, employment, vehicles, and contact info

Capture updated photos and fingerprints

Assess and collect registry fees

Run criminal histories, driver’s license checks, and vehicle registrations

Assist the Sex Offender Investigator by flagging non-compliant cases

Maintain and update the Offender Watch database and physical files

Respond to offender relocation notices and notify appropriate personnel across the county

Job Specifications and Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent

Valid South Carolina Driver’s License

Must obtain 40-hour NCIC Certification (training will be provided)

Basic computer skills and familiarity with digital photography and fingerprinting preferred

Ability to maintain confidentiality and perform repetitive, detail-driven tasks

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

This position involves light physical work, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting (up to 20 lbs.). This role requires strong interpersonal communication, critical thinking, and accurate data entry skills.
