MCNEESE STATE UNIVERSITY invites applicants to apply for the position of Assistant Professor of Mathematical Sciences. This is a full-time, 9-month, unclassified, tenure-track position. This appointment begins Fall 2025.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

The selected candidate for this position will be responsible for the following:

Preparing and teaching mathematics courses, including general education courses.

Engaging in scholarly activity and being of service to the department, university, and broader community

Participate in departmental meetings, serve on committees (e.g., curriculum committee, hiring committee), and contribute to program development and evaluation.

Provide academic and career guidance to students

Engage in outreach activities to promote mathematics as an educational pathway

Effectively balance responsibilities to fulfill teaching, research, and service obligations.

Collaborate effectively with colleagues and foster a positive academic environment.

Required/Preferred Qualifications

Required:

Ph.D. in Mathematical Sciences, or a closely related field

Excellent teaching, strong communications skills, and demonstrated research ability.

Preferred:

Experience teaching at the university level

Experience with multiple modes of instructional delivery (face-to-face, hybrid, online)

Participation in professional organizations (e.g., AMS, MAA, SIAM) and a willingness to contribute to the broader mathematical community.
