This Lieutenant position will report to the Security Specialist.
Employee’s primary responsibilities is the overall security of the Randall Building Complex Positions and Sandy Ridge Bus Terminal.
Work in this class involves:
assisting in planning, supervising, and coordinating activities at the division headquarters Randall Building Complex located in Raleigh
as well as planning, supervising and coordinating activities at the bus terminal located in Sandy Ridge.
Employee will directly supervise two Correctional Sergeant I positions and indirectly supervise 6 Correctional Officers.
Employee will assist in:
planning and supervising personnel actions,
administrative affairs,
officers’ work schedules
and coordinating activities involving the discipline, security, and the welfare of the offender population. .
Position will also be responsible for:
maintaining equipment inventories,
issuing equipment for special teams,
and scheduling staff training.
Position will be assigned additional tasks as needed.

If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase/decrease MAY result.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document in the Description of Work section of their application that they possess ALL of the following were applicable:
Documented supervisory skills in an adult prison facility
Expert knowledge of Prison’s Policy and Procedures..
Documented proficiency at writing reports.
Proven capability to act promptly in an emergency situation.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience”. Necessary Special Qualifications
Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
