General Schedule
Position typically works 40 hours per week Monday - Friday 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Position Overview
Ensures the proper day-to-day operation of college technology applications and systems. Provides assistance in resolving technology support issues. Performs installations, repairs, upgrades, backups, and other tasks. Perform installations, repairs, upgrades, backups, and other maintenance tasks. Continuously improves user experiences by analyzing technology systems and recommending improvements and efficiencies.
The primary duties (more than 50% and most significant) of this position are the application of systems analysis techniques and procedures including consulting with users; to determine hardware, software or system functional expectations therefore, it meets the job duties test for the FSLA computer exemption category.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions
Analyzes, tests, maintains, and suggests modifications of computer systems and programs, including coordinating the installation and deprecation of same. Applies systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users, content experts, and campus partners, to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications. Provides technology support in all college spaces including offices, classrooms, labs, and clinic spaces. Support may be provided remotely or at desk-side as appropriate. Serves as college functional applications administrator for various enterprise systems as assigned by college leadership. May act as liaison for various university partners as assigned by college leadership. May assist in the evaluation, recommendation, and coordination of the purchase of college hardware and software. May be required to actively participate in related university technology initiatives.
Works independently with minimal supervision but demonstrate willingness to seek out expertise as needed, and work in a highly collaborative environment including documentation of tasks, ticket work, etc.
Position involves regularly moving/delivering, lifting, and setting up computers, monitors and related equipment.
Position also involves performing installation tasks at ground level and in tight spaces.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience Required
Requires an associate's degree MIS or related field plus 3+ years of relevant experience in the chosen field or if no degree, 5+ years of relevant work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. Has solid experience and understanding of information technology services and products. Experience in supporting an enterprise networking environment is required.
Qualifications/Experience Preferred
A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Three to five years of technical support experience with Windows operating systems in an enterprise environment. Experience with a modern Microsoft networking environment. Proficiency with Dell computers a plus. CompTIA A+ certification preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Demonstrates knowledge of personal computer hardware and software, including Windows and Apple/Mac operating systems and Microsoft 365 applications. Maintains customer-service attitude. Ability to analyze, evaluate, and solve system related problems. Ability to translate technical issues so that non-technical personnel can understand issues. Ability to work independently and maintain courteous attitude in dealing with students, faculty, and staff and visitors.
