osition Summary:
The computer technician/help desk position is responsible for guiding district employees through basic problem-solving steps as well as maintaining and advancing student information through multiple software platforms. This position is considered to be non-supervisory.
Qualifications:
Must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Must have training in Windows Active Directory and be able to demonstrate knowledge. (Training with hands-on experience).
Must have training in PC hardware, software installation, and troubleshooting.
Must be familiar with current operating systems.
Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Professional Suite and Google Apps for Education.
Must be able to troubleshoot network and computer components.
Must be willing to continue education and keep up to date with technology changes.
It is desirable that the computer technicians are skilled in basic tool use for the purpose of mounting, hanging, and securing technology equipment.
Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:
The computer technician/help desk person has the responsibility to provide an immediate response to hardware, software, and network problems within the district. The overall goal is zero downtime throughout the district.
The Computer Technician/Help Desk Position has the responsibility to:
Monitor the district help desk and troubleshoot problems as they arise. If a problem cannot be handled over the phone, the Computer Technician/Help Desk person is responsible to notify the appropriate technician for a service call.
Administer and abide by all security guidelines in the creation and changes to Active Directory user IDs, Voicemail, Email (students and staff).
Do annual roll-overs of student data within various network software programs.
Maintain and update the district web pages.
Type purchase orders and follow up on all orders until they are received.
Maintain the computer/AV equipment inventory.
Demonstrate the ability to safely use basic tools such as hand-held power tools and manual hand tools for the purpose of mounting, hanging, and securing technology equipment.
Help with extracurricular activities in the evening and on weekends when needed.
Help other technicians as directed.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Information Technology Services.

Must be able to hear (40 decibel maximum) and verbally communicate.
Work Environment:
The noise level in this environment is quiet to loud, depending on the activity in the particular part of the day.

Terms of Employment:
Salary, work year, and other terms and conditions of employment as established by contract between Whitehall-Coplay School District, Superintendent, and the Whitehall-Coplay School District Board of Directors.
