AT-RISK TEACHER ROLE OVERVIEW: an at-risk teacher at Snake River Opportunities High School will be an experienced and highly effective remote educator who not only excels in their content area but also provides leadership, mentorship, and support to at -risk students. This role will involve a blend of direct student instruction and responsibilities aimed at enhancing the overall educational experience and ensuring at-risk student success.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrates a genuine passion for seeing students thrive and succeed in their learning journey and a proven track record of supporting at-risk students.
A proven ability to lead and implement MTSS strategies.
Thrives in a remote working environment as part of a collaborative team and fosters a culture of continuous learning and sharing insights with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience.
Possesses excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, crucial for remote collaboration, student engagement, and communication.
Highly adaptable and dynamic, embracing the evolving nature of SROHS, where relationship building is key to meeting the diverse learning needs of our students and supporting colleagues in doing the same.
Holds a valid teaching endorsement relevant to the subject area (preferences for teachers with Math, CTE, or Elective Areas) they will primarily support (e.g., high school endorsement or equivalent in any content area).
Demonstrates exceptional teaching methodologies and knowledge in high school level content and remote pedagogy.
Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to support and guide other educators. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teachers at Snake River Opportunities High School serve as both mentor teachers for a smaller group of students and as leaders and mentors for other content teachers.
Staff Mentorship: Provide guidance, support, and mentorship in a house/team of remote teachers, fostering collaboration and sharing best practices in remote instruction, student engagement, and supporting at-risk students..
Mentor Teacher: Support a smaller group of students in achieving their educational goals.
Expertise in Content and Pedagogy: Demonstrate exceptional teaching methodologies and knowledge in a high school level content area and effective remote teaching strategies.
Uphold high standards of professionalism in all interactions with students, colleagues, and families.
Professionalism: Uphold high standards of professionalism in all interactions with students, colleagues, and families.
Student Support: Provide customized synchronous and asynchronous support for students.
Communication: Engage with students and families through various communication channels and model effective communication strategies for other teachers. Facilitate communication and collaboration amongst the teaching team.
Professional Development Support: Identify professional development needs within the team and contribute to the planning and delivery of relevant training opportunities focused on remote teaching best practices and innovative strategies.
Miscellaneous Responsibilities: Lead MTSS activities, proctor assessments, and facilitate school community activities (some face-to-face in local area).
