Position: Intervention Specialist
Licensure: K-12 Intervention Specialist Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Intensive
Reports to: Building Principal
Employment Status: Regular/Full-time
FLSA Status: Exempt
Description: Provide academic, functional, and behavioral instructional support for special education students by designing and implementing individualized programing.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited college or university
Valid Ohio Special Education Teaching Certificate/License

Knowledge of FERPA and HIPAA

Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing situation Essential Functions:
Ensure safety of students
Assists in providing staff development activities related to modification and adaptation of curriculum and instruction
Communicates regularly with parents and professional staff regarding the educational, social, and personal needs of student
Serves as a building resource person to identify and provide instructional materials and strategies which diagnose and respond to individual student competencies and needs
Assists the special education student in making an assessment of his/her abilities and in establishing educational and vocational occupational goals in keeping with these abilities
Serves as member of the building intervention assistance teams
Provides support for the case managers of students referred to intervention assistance teams, including observations of students
Assists in reviewing the implementation of 504 Plans and IEPs
Provides modeling of specific teaching strategies for the classroom teacher
Provides additional support for classroom teachers through information on research, changes in the law, and speakers on relevant topics Additional Working Conditions:
Occasional interaction among unruly children
Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue
Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull various items up to a maximum of 25 pounds, e.g., paper boxes, deliveries of supplies and equipment
Occasional travel, e.g., attending workshop outside of district
Frequently move and position self as necessary to access and operate equipment
Frequently move around workspace and travel throughout school building Employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance use in the workplace throughout his/her employment with the District.
