Summary:
SEWP is seeking a highly skilled Content Editor / Technical Writer to be the editorial expert behind the written content across platforms. Reporting to the Communications Manager and working in close collaboration with the broader Communications Team, this role is central to helping to shape the voice, clarity, and precision of the organization's messaging. From technical documentation to polished public communications, you ensure content not only meets the highest standards of organization compliance, accuracy and accessibility-but also advances the mission, reflects the brand, and drives engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
You are in part behind written quality and editorial consistency. Every document, webpage, report, guide, and internal message passes through your expert lens. You bring structure to complex technical language, clarity to dense materials, and strategic intent to content of every form.
Account for the editing and writing lifecycles for all internal and external communications-including white papers, newsletters, technical guides, policy documentation, training content, and web materials.
Transform technical material into clear, user-centered documents that are accessible and aligned with organizational standards.
Help to establish and maintain editorial guidelines, including templates, tone, formatting, and quality benchmarks across document types.
Review, revise, and validate all content for grammar, spelling, structure, accuracy, readability, and adherence to compliance regulations (including ADA / Section 508 standards).
Support authors and contributors at all skill levels with editorial coaching, structural feedback, and best practices.
Collaborate across teams, including subject matter experts, communications colleagues, and technical leads, to ensure the accuracy, relevance, and alignment of all content.
Manage and maintain a centralized document repository, ensuring all documents are logically stored, regularly reviewed, and version-controlled.
Track and improve content production workflows, helping streamline collaboration, feedback, and delivery timelines.
Ensure timely delivery of high-volume content, balancing competing priorities and rapidly adjusting to shifting organizational needs.
Manage multiple concurrent projects, delivering quick-turn design solutions while maintaining precision and polish.
Other responsibilities may be assigned as organizational needs evolve, requiring your adaptability, commitment to excellence, and responsiveness.
Core Competencies & Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
7+ years of professional writing and editing experience, ideally in a corporate, technical, or government-facing environment.
Must provide portfolio or samples demonstrating technical writing, editing, and content structuring capabilities.
Expert-level editing, writing, and proofreading skills, with exceptional command of grammar, tone, formatting, and plain language standards.
Deep experience producing and refining technical and instructional documentation-including manuals, guides, SOPs, and user-facing materials.
Proven ability to establish and uphold content standards and templates across diverse document types.
Strong familiarity with 508-compliant writing practices and accessible content formatting.
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint for document creation, collaboration, and management.
Adept at managing multiple content streams, meeting tight deadlines without compromising quality.
