The reliability engineer will provide advanced maintenance support and scheduling services to meet safety, maintenance, and operations objectives of the Oakwood and Alpha facility. This position will identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations. Reliability engineer will provide technical expertise for predictive, preventative, and general maintenance best practices while emphasizing safe working practices. Reliability engineer will report to the maintenance manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support and contribute to the overall site goal of enhancing asset performance
Vibration analysis – Completed on schedule.
Maintain and optimize the vibration analysis database
Infrared analysis – develop, track and complete infrared analysis task
Oil analysis – develop, track and complete oil analysis task.
Develop a long-term vision and plan for manufacturing equipment reliability performance improvement.
Develop standards across the equipment lifecycle using RCM (Reliability centered maintenance) methodology, apply OAC (operator asset care) where applicable
Report on developing fault conditions of vibration, oil, and infrared analysis and provide corrective actions and severity estimates. Coordinate with the Planning group to ensure maintenance requirements are effectively communicated.
Evaluate and optimize equipment preventative maintenance (actions/frequency).
Explore new technology and methods that improve equipment reliability.
Support data collection by others and develop and maintain reliability programs for plant equipment.
Provide guidance to the maintenance team to minimize equipment downtime.
Assist in developing maintenance training programs to reinforce reliability centered maintenance knowledge and practices.
Proficient computer skills utilizing Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel etc.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)
Minimum Bachelor's / University or equivalent degree is required; a degree from an ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology) accredited university is strongly preferred
Certifications preferred in: PMP/FPX (or equivalent project management certification), Manufacturing Asset Management Certification (MAMC), and/or Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP)
Vibration analysis training
Oil analysis training
Infrared analysis training
Five years’ experience as an industrial manufacturing maintenance mechanic
Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and air compressed systems
High school diploma or GED; some college preferre
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals written in English
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English
Ability to speak effectively before groups or employees.
Basic math skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE)
Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and compressed air systems
Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)
Working knowledge of Autonomous Maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance
Strong verbal and written communication skills – ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization
Certification in maintenance management or planning such as CMRP or CPIM is a plus
Physical Demands
The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, taste, or smell. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 - 25 pounds, and occasionally more than 50 pounds with assistance from co-workers and/or mechanic devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May require use of equipment in machine shop, small portable equipment, and manual tools. Duties may require occasional operation of a motor vehicle or travel to another state on behalf of the company.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee will be handling items that may be very hot. Noise level is usually moderate. Must be available to work overtime, nights, weekends, and Holidays.
