Job Description Metrology Applications EngineerBuffalo NY1st Shift$78k-$82k and Benefits Include - Health, Dental, and Vision insurance, 401K, Paid holidays and vacations, Tuition reimbursement program, Quarterly bonuses, Subsidized cafeteria costs, Peer recognition initiatives, Summer scholarships for children and grandchildren of employees, On-site gym.Job SummaryPlans and coordinates activities concerned with inspection functions such as development, application, and maintenance of techniques for manufacturing and validation, and performs the following job duties.Job DutiesDevelops and initiates standards and methods for statistically valid inspections, testing, and evaluation.Maintains and coordinates validation list and inspection activities.Has ultimate responsibility for accuracy of data and inspection validations through gauge repeatability and reproducibility.Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.Establishes and maintains program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities.Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.Develops a working knowledge of company management systems for compliance, writes procedures and training materials and conducts training sessions as required.Communicates with and addresses internal and external customer concerns as necessary.May supervise QA personnel when required.May perform, oversee and/or coordinate activities associated with calibration program.Effectively leads, participates on, and/or monitors cross functional teams related to process/product improvement, and/or root cause analysis as required.Other duties as assigned.ImpactEnsure cost containment levels are maintainedRecommend/Create processes/procedures improvementsAnalyze potential areas for savings or efficiencies.Safety ResponsibilitiesFollowing all rules, regulations and procedures set forth in the safety manual.Promoting safety awareness throughout the workplace.Alerting supervisors to any safety hazards they discover.Wearing appropriate, proper protective equipment whenever required.Using guards on tools and machinery whenever required.Following proper lifting techniques using legs and not the back.Operating any vehicles, equipment, tools or machines only if they are authorized to do so.Reporting any injury or loss immediately to the supervisor/team lead.Promoting a positive attitude about safety and never performing any unsafe practice that could place the employee or others in danger.Providing information to his/her immediate supervisor if a better and safer procedure can be implemented in performing any operation.Assure when designing or modifying equipment/workstations that ergonomics and safety are reviewed and work to minimize hazards through engineering controls, administrative controls and lastly personal protective equipment.Assure Job Hazard and Equipment Hazard Analysis are completed timely as required per MNG.008.Independent JudgmentDecide which projects are priority relative to company goals.Determine best in class frameworks, systems and processes.Analysis/Problem SolvingAbility to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases.Ability to work with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.CommunicationAbility to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, customers, public groups, and/or boards of directors.Skills/Technical SkillsASQ, CQE certification is a plus.Inspection equipment calibration experience is a plus.Six Sigma/statistical training or certification is a plus.Communication Skills.Working knowledge of traditional PC based software such as Microsoft Office, Minitab, etc.Requires an above average people skills ability.Experience managing direct reports is a plus.Demonstrates Company’s core values of honesty, integrity, and respect.KnowledgeUnderstands regulated type industries.Knowledge of medical device manufacturer preferred.World-class manufacturing knowledge preferred.Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand;
