The IT Windows Engineer is a role focused on managing and supporting enterprise Windows environments with an emphasis on endpoint configuration, compliance, and automation. This position works primarily with Microsoft Intune, MECM (SCCM), Group Policy, and other Windows management tools to ensure secure and consistent operation across the organization’s endpoints. The ideal candidate brings several years of hands-on experience and can support both day-to-day operations and longer-term initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and standardization.
This position will require onsite attendance in the Richardson office weekly.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Administer and support enterprise Windows devices using Microsoft Intune and MECM (SCCM), including software deployments, patching, compliance policies, and reporting.
Configure and maintain Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and local security policies to ensure endpoint consistency and security.
Assist in the design and rollout of Windows configurations and baselines to support operational and security standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Windows endpoints, client-server communication, and management tool configurations.
Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for task automation, reporting, and system maintenance.
Participate in endpoint lifecycle management, including imaging, provisioning, upgrades, and decommissioning.
Work with other IT teams to support project rollouts, application packaging, and user onboarding/offboarding processes.
Contribute to documentation of systems, processes, and procedures.
Participate in an on-call rotation and provide support during maintenance windows as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
3+ years of experience in a Windows system administration or engineering role, with direct experience in Intune, MECM (SCCM), and Group Policy.
Strong understanding of Microsoft endpoint management tools and Windows OS internals.
Proficiency in scripting with PowerShell for automation and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with Azure Active Directory and device compliance integration.
Experience supporting Microsoft 365 services and endpoint protection tools.
Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify and resolve issues independently or in collaboration with others.
Effective communication skills and a strong customer service mindset.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
Solid understanding of Windows client and server operating systems, including system configuration, maintenance, and support in an enterprise environment.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune and MECM (SCCM) for software deployment, device compliance, patch management, and reporting.
Proficiency in managing Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and Azure AD-related settings for user and device management.
Strong PowerShell scripting skills for automating administrative tasks and gathering system data.
Familiarity with endpoint protection, BitLocker, Windows Hello for Business, and other security-related features.
Working knowledge of ITSM practices and experience with incident, change, and asset management processes (e.g., ITIL framework).
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across various layers of endpoint management tools and infrastructure.
Basic understanding of virtualization (e.g., Hyper-V or VMware) and cloud technologies (e.g., Azure), especially where they intersect with endpoint services.
Awareness of compliance standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, PCI DSS) as they apply to device and data protection.
