Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Security Low Voltage Technician to join our growing team. This role is crucial for the successful installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a wide range of low voltage security systems. System Installation:
Install, terminate, and test various low voltage cabling types (e.g., CAT5e/6, fiber optic, coaxial) according to blueprints, schematics, and industry best practices.
Mount, configure, and program security devices including CCTV cameras (IP and analog), access control readers, motion detectors, door contacts, and security control panels.
Integrate security systems with existing IT networks and infrastructure.
Ensure all installations comply with relevant electrical codes, building codes, and safety standards.
Maintenance & Service:
Perform routine preventative maintenance checks to ensure optimal system performance and longevity.
Diagnose and resolve technical issues, including wiring faults, component failures, and software configuration problems.
Respond promptly to service calls, providing efficient and effective troubleshooting and repairs.
Execute system upgrades, expansions, and modifications as required by client needs.
Documentation & Communication:
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all work performed, including installation diagrams, service reports, and equipment inventories.
Communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and team members, providing clear updates on project status and technical issues.
Provide basic system training to clients on the operation and features of their newly installed or serviced security systems.
Quality & Safety:
Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ensure all work is completed to the highest quality standards, meeting client expectations and project specifications.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, both on-site and in company vehicles.Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical certification or Associate's degree in Electronics, Low Voltage Systems, IT, or a related field is highly preferred.
Experience: Minimum of [e.g., 2-4] years of hands-on experience installing and servicing commercial electronic security systems (access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection).
Technical Skills:
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Strong knowledge of low voltage electrical theory and circuitry.
Demonstrated ability to terminate and test various cable types.
Familiarity with IP networking concepts and network configuration for security devices.
Experience with common security system platforms and manufacturers (e.g., Axis, Hikvision, Pelco, Genetec, Avigilon, LenelS2, Honeywell, DSC, Bosch, etc.).
Soft Skills:
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
Other Requirements:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in various physical environments (e.g., attics, crawl spaces, elevated heights, confined spaces).
Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
Physical Demands & Work Environment: This position requires physical activity including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and lifting. Work is performed primarily at client locations, which may include exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and construction site conditions.
