Job Description: The Humanities Department seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Humanities, with an emphasis on History.
Beginning in August 2025, this position is a one-year appointment with a ten-month annual obligation, subject to additional renewal after the appointment period.
We are seeking candidates with a graduate degree in History or a closely related field.
This course load will include undergraduate History courses (US History to 1865, US History since 1865, Early World History and Global Awareness, Later World History and Global Awareness, US Maritime History, Global Maritime History) and General Education Humanities classes.
Responsibilities for this position include:Teach undergraduate History courses (US History to 1865, US History since 1865, Early World History and Global Awareness, Later World History and Global Awareness), General Education Humanities classesMaintain course documents on the college's learning management system (Brightspace, D2L) for in-person, online, and blended coursesAdvise and mentor studentsMaintain a dedicated commitment to teaching students and furthering their education as foremost priorityPlay an active, collegial role in the department and in the growth of the Humanities programs and the college Requirements: Required Qualifications: The Humanities Department offers a BS degree in Maritime Studies and a MS degree in Maritime and Naval Studies.
