The Data Manager will play a key role in managing, organizing, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data for research projects for Dr. Yu-Han Chiu’s lab in the School of Public Health, ensuring data integrity, and supporting the research team in all phases of data processing, and analysis.
This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage numerous datasets efficiently. The Data Manager will work closely with the principal investigator and team members in Dr. Chiu’s lab to facilitate the successful execution of research projects. The Data Manager will provide oversight of data cleaning; basic statistical analysis and reporting; maintaining documentation; and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and quality of the data. This position will also analyze study data to inform the timeline for study completion. The type of data is dependent on the research project, but most are public health related. This position will assist with developing and implementing policies to standardize and streamline aspects of data collection, data management, and weekly and monthly reporting for multiple research projects. This position will also support faculty, staff, and students in obtaining and accessing data required for analysis.
The ideal candidate will be a quick and eager learner; be flexible, detail-oriented, organized, service-oriented, and resourceful; have excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills; and have specific experience and expertise in research projects programming and utilizing statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, or Python).
This is a fixed term position with an end date, which may be extended based upon available funding. All offers of employment are contingent upon a criminal background check and education verification satisfactory to Brown University. This is a Hybrid position.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree plus a minimum of 2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s Degree preferred.
Advanced coursework or certifications in data management or statistical analysis is preferred.
This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 6/30/2026, which may be extended based upon available funding.
