We're looking for a skilled Assistant Controller to join our dynamic team and support our continued growth with strong financial leadership.
Position Overview:
As the Assistant Controller, you’ll take the reins on all aspects of accounting and finance within our fast-paced trucking operation. From budgeting to reporting and compliance, your role is crucial in driving our financial strategy and ensuring our systems stay efficient and accurate. You'll play a key role in decision-making as we expand our operations.
Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations (AP/AR, payroll, GL)
Develop and maintain internal controls and financial policies
Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Manage cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting processes
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and DOT financial regulations
Analyze financial data to support strategic decisions and operational planning
Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners
Lead and mentor a small finance/accounting team
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
3+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience (experience in transportation preferred)
Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and financial reporting
Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, McLeod, TMW, etc.)
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
