D.L. Porter’s Superintendent Employment Duties and Responsibilities:
D.L. Porter is seeking Project Superintendents, this advertisement is limited to two (2) positions, who are capable of either overseeing the vertical construction activities relating to building a New General Administration Building for a Water Treatment / Reverse Osmosis Plant in Florida or has experience in and is interested in the on site management coordination of building a 100+ unit 55 older rental home community in Alabama. Aside from needing to be completely knowledgeable of how to read and interpret construction plans specifications, those applying must be capable of being in charge of the overall on-site safety, Bldg. construction organization, scheduling, and overseeing quality of all work accomplished on the project daily. These individuals shall work closely with the project team, in particular with his assigned project manager, the design architect and various owner’s representative(s) ensuring the project’s lines of communication are not interrupted and the projects’ specific goals are met. D.L. Porter is seeking an individual with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Commercial Construction field who has overseen projects that include New Commercial construction, renovations, restorations, large box retail, schools, and or municipal work whether it be City, County or State.
Specific Duties would include:
Must be experienced in reading, understanding, and managing trades contractual scope requirements.
Must be familiar with working with local governments (building departments and various related agencies, trained and familiarwith basic construction safety, and OSHA requirements as they apply to commercial construction projects.
Must be prepared to be on site daily, controlling all aspects of the project activities.
Conduct daily site meetings with the trades ensuring all that are required on site for the dayunderstand the project’s goals and are best prepared to achieve such in a safe and organized manner.
Must act in a professional manner at all times to maintain a positive work environment.
Must have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, be able to multi-task, manage and assign responsibilities to other Team Members while always filling out daily logs, keep site as- builts, take site photos documenting the project activity, conditions, and deliveries.
One is expected to attend and often conduct meetings with the project Architect, Owner’s representatives, various Company employees, as well as with the Subcontractor’s and conduct weekly mandated OSHA safety meetings with all involved on site.
Monitor the need for materials ensuring you have what is needed on site prior to an activity commencing, then once such has been delivered and is being left on site you will be asked to ensuring such is secured and protected from the elements and theft.
Assist the Project Manager in updating schedules, developing “look-a-heads”, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, creating RFI’s and distributing such once information is received, basically staying in control of all on-site communications.
From time to time, one may be asked to verify the accuracy of certain invoices, gather information that may relate to the Company’s submitting COR’s and or Applications for Payment.
Assist Owner Contractor in obtaining the Certificate of Occupancy, compile Projects Punch List with the Project Manager, distribute to all Subcontractors and verify when work in completed in accordance with the plans and specifications.
This position may be required to perform a variety of construction tasks including physical demands including lifting and carrying items or materials as heavy as 50 lbs. primarily in assisting others to accept a product. Given this position is in the field you will be required to wear approved Personal Protective Equipment.
Participate in compiling an Owner’s Closeout Book consisting of all completed Punch Lists, Operations Manuals, Product Data, As-Built Drawings.
Maintain security and document control over permits, contracts, and approved drawings in the field office.
Must understand and can operate Windows Office Systems including Excel, Word and Outlook, etc.
Experience with using management software systems such as Microsoft Project, ProCore, Sage, Project HG, etc. would be a plus.Company Description
