Job Summary:

The Peer Support Specialist provides recovery-oriented peer support services to individuals with mental health and/or substance use challenges. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will help individuals enhance their recovery through coaching, advocacy, and resource navigation in both individual and group settings.

Key Responsibilities:

Offer one-on-one guidance, coaching, and support

Help individuals access and navigate personal and community resources

Support patients in building healthy social networks

Provide encouragement and support during crises

Advocate for patients’ rights and help reduce stigma

Collaborate with family members, care providers, and other members of the treatment team

Participate in staff meetings, supervision, and trainings

Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards

Understand and apply policies related to patient rights and the Housing Manual

Serve on internal committees as needed

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED

Current Peer Supporter Certification (Required)

Skills & Knowledge:

Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Familiarity with Franklin County community resources

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Commitment to supporting individuals in recovery with empathy and respect

Requirements Before Hire:

Must have a current, valid driver’s license

Must have a personal vehicle available for use on the job

Must carry full-coverage auto insurance

Transporting patients is a required part of this position. All listed items above must be verified and in place prior to your start date.
