JOB SUMMARY
The CNC Programmer performs daily engineering functions consisting of creation, design and processing of routings, drawings, tooling, and fixture designs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Uses CAD software to prepare drawings and detail blueprints from rough sketches, manufacturers' spec sheets or from other forms of information presented.
Prepares production drawings based on customer supplied prints (may use CAD or PDF editing software).
Creates and revises process routings for new, reoccurring and rework job orders.
May attend MRB meetings to assist in problem resolutions for non-conformances as needed.
Works with necessary personnel in Production Control, Purchasing and Production department supervisors to expedite necessary information concerning technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design/test problems to assure accurate and timely completion of engineering quotes.
Communicates daily to department supervisor of any major engineering problems or concerns.
Uses ERP system to input, track and locate information as needed in accordance with established company guidelines.
May assist in recommending, evaluating, and verifying engineering changes, specifications and drawing releases and obtains all necessary required authorizations.
Performs administrative duties that relate to the job, to include filing quotes, copying prints and releasing prints to the shop floor.
Customer contact is required to discuss and clarify technical issues.
Understands, enforces, and follows Prince Industry’s quality certifications as it relates to job (i. e. ISO).
Additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
REQUIRED SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general reports, business periodicals, technical blueprints and procedures, or governmental regulations.
Proficient in the use of current CAD and PDF editing software applications.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry to apply concepts to practical situations.
Ability to recognize and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent troubleshooting or problem resolution skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
Excellent organization and prioritization skills.
Strong knowledge of engineering concepts and practices.
Strong knowledge of related machine equipment and basic tooling or material requirements.
Works independently with minimal daily supervision.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or related field of study) or 2 year technical certification with equivalent related engineering or machining experience required.
Minimum of 3 or more years previous work experience in engineering or related machining environment.
Apprenticeship, formal training, college course work or continuing education preferred.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Regularly required to sit, stand, or walk the duration of the shift, 8-10 hours.
Occasionally required to lift, push, or pull up to 30 lbs.
Frequently required to sit, stoop, kneel reach or bend.
Regularly exposed to moving machine parts when in plant.
