Senior Director Human Resources

Job Summary:

The Senior Director of Human Resource is a strategic advisor to business leaders on all aspects of human resources. This position is responsible for leadership coaching and development, leading all employment related matters, administration of leave management, implementation of initiatives for talent acquisition and retention, and oversight of performance management. This role will lead and develop a human resource team to implement and drive human resource initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborates with leaders in understanding business requirements and translating such into specific Human Resource actions and initiatives

Ensures strategic alignment of Human Resource action, programs, initiatives, and services with local and system needs

Provide effective change management capabilities, and model exceptional, influential leadership to support the organization through transitions and transformations

Understands HR process at a detailed level and ensures HR team members have the skills and tools necessary to be successful in their role. Not afraid to jump in and drive tactically when needed

Ensures the best people, processes, and culture are in place to support the team and sustain high performance

Provides leadership coaching and guidance to management on employee relations and performance management related matters

Address employee concerns, investigate issues and resolve conflicts in compliance with company policy and union contractual requirements

Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization’s goals and drive initiatives of staffing, recruiting, and retention to meet hospital KPIs

Ensure compliance with all policies and processes and compliance with union contractual requirements

Provide training, guidance and administration of compensation, benefits, and leave in compliance with law, CBA and policies

Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends to recommend strategic planning to improve the hospitals’ performance in employee workforce planning and talent management

Develops and implements departmental budget

Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff

The Senior HR Director will promote and direct successful union partnerships and possess bargaining experience

Performs other duties as required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Excellent verbal, written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong supervisory and leadership skills

Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations

Working knowledge of state and federal leave management regulations

Excellent change management and influencing skills

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Work Experience, Education and Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field strongly preferred; Master’s degree strongly preferred or 8-10 years of applicable HR leadership experience, in lieu of a degree(s)

At least five years of human resource management experience required

Employee and labor relations experience highly preferred

SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred

Travel Requirements:

Travel is infrequent
