CNC Machinist

Job Description

Program CNC mill or lathe as per engineering drawing specifications and tolerances.

Set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flown, and depth

and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve and input computerized machine

control media.

Uses tools such as edge finders, indicators and probes to find machine work offsets.

Loads parts in machine, cycles the machine, and detects malfunctions in machine

operations such as worn or damaged cutting tools.

Determines appropriate bar stock size, based on diameter, necessary for a job.

Run production lots and communicate with others regarding production runs.

Produces parts that meet engineering specifications, without supervision.

Reads, understands and interprets engineering and manufacturing drawings with

working knowledge of GDT, producing parts that meet the specifications.

Learns optimal cutting techniques, speeds and feeds.

Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance

machining, and informs of discrepancies.

Verifies conformance of finished work piece to print specifications using standard

measuring tools.

Learns/can recognize machine deviation versus cutter or holding problems and informs

supervisor.

Thoroughly inspects first part run with mid to high level of complexity.

Meets job standard times consistently and communicates when unable to do so.

Ensures part count and data entry is accurate and correct consistently.

Accurately completes and maintains all paperwork for parts/records.

Completes and maintains accurate computer entry for parts/data.Company Description
