Job Summary
Client is seeking a dedicated Compliance Professional to join our Customs team. In this role, you will provide guidance on U.S. Customs processes and offer transactional support for U.S. import and export activities. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of U.S. trade regulations and a proactive approach to ensuring compliance across all customs operations.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and submit customs clearance instructions to brokers, ensuring full compliance with U.S. import regulations and internal policies.
Manage importing requirements including FDA, EPA, AD/CVD, Section 201/301/232, quotas, and Free Trade Agreements.
Monitor and support timely clearance of U.S. imports; troubleshoot and resolve issues as needed.
Ensure compliance for export transactions, including reviewing documentation, filing Electronic Export Information (EEI), and maintaining accurate records.
Collaborate with customs brokers, internal departments, and suppliers to gather required information and ensure consistent import/export procedures.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or High School Diploma with relevant years of experience.
Minimum of 2 years of direct experience with U.S. import and export processes.
Strong understanding of U.S. Customs regulations, U.S. Tariff database, General Rules of Interpretation, and customs brokerage operations.
Advanced knowledge of trade preference programs (e.g., USMCA), duty minimization strategies (e.g., U.S. Goods Returned), and valuation rules.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; familiarity with PowerPoint is a plus.
Excellent interpersonal skills, ethical standards, and organizational capabilities.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills—both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with SAP.
Licensed U.S. Customs Broker certification preferred.
Certifications
Licensed U.S. Customs Broker (preferred, not required).
