Sr. Accountant

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Oakland, California. This role involves overseeing financial activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the organization's overall financial health. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in account reconciliations, general ledger management, and month-end close processes.

Responsibilities:

Accounting

Manage daily accounting functions including accounts payable/receivable and general ledger updates.

Support full-cycle project accounting from initiation to closeout in coordination with external partners.

Reconcile accounts monthly and assist in preparing financial reports.

Review and process subcontractor billings, resolving discrepancies and ensuring alignment with contract terms, including T& M billing.

Administer payroll and ensure compliance with labor laws and tax requirements.

Project Accounting

Partner with project managers to develop and track project budgets.

Monitor and report on project costs, identifying variances and cost-saving opportunities.

Perform cost analyses, billing audits, and maintain records of subcontractor payments.

Generate and process invoices, pay applications, and change orders per project timelines.

Maintain detailed project accounting records and job cost tracking.

Support vendor and contract administration with accurate and timely payments.

Compliance & Financial Analysis

Ensure compliance with company policies and industry financial regulations.

Oversee financial reporting and project financial close-outs.

Deliver cost reports and financial insights to aid decision-making.

Assist with audits related to both general and project-specific accounting.

Leadership & Communication

Mentor junior staff and contribute to accounting process improvements.

Maintain clear communication with stakeholders to support project transparency and alignment with company goals.
