Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist (AAC Trainer)-Augmentative and Alternative Communication

Location: Tucson

Advanced Therapy Solutions, part of the Sevita family, provides in-home and clinic-based therapeutic services for children and young adults. Our team of pediatric experts helps children with complex medical, developmental, behavioral, and educational needs develop essential skills.

We offer physical, occupational, speech-language, and feeding therapy, including augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) support. The Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) specializing in AAC evaluates communication needs, creates individualized treatment plans, and addresses disorders like delayed language and stuttering. The SLP also trains patients and caregivers on AAC systems, ensuring strategies align with patient goals. This role requires expertise in AAC technology and a focus on continuous learning in communication tools.

Responsibilities:

Provide personalized training sessions for individuals using AAC devices, systems, and strategies.

Collaborate with clients and interdisciplinary teams to ensure AAC training aligns with individualized goals and communication needs.

Willingness to learn new software and hardware for AAC devices.

Review hearing or speech and language test results, barium swallow results, or medical or background information to diagnose and plan treatment for speech, language, fluency, voice, or swallowing disorders

Administer speech and language evaluations, tests, or examinations to patients to collect information on the type and degree of impairments using written or oral tests or special instruments

Write reports and maintain proper documentation of information, such as patient billing records or caseload activities, including the initial evaluation, treatment, progress, and discharge of clients

Develop or implement treatment plans for problems such as articulation/phonology, delayed language, social communication, stuttering, feeding/swallowing disorders, voice problems, and augmentative and alternative communication based on own assessments and recommendations of physicians, psychologists, or social workers

school or community settings with pediatric patients, and coordinate speech-language therapy with other therapeutic activities

Select activities that will help pediatric patients learn activities of daily living within the limits of their mental and physical capabilities

Educate and train a patient's family and caregivers about how to accommodate and care for their patient

Evaluate a patient's home, daycare, or school environment and identify how it can be better suited to the patient's needs and capabilities

Qualifications:

Experience with AAC systems, tools, and strategies is preferred, but training will be provided for those willing to learn.

Proven experience providing AAC training to clients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.

Willing to travel or work in the West Valley area.

Master of Science/Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university

Arizona Speech-Language Pathology license

Pediatric experience (preferred)
