Job Description

This is a full-time, direct-hire, hybrid role requiring an active Secret clearance.

Our client is seeking a Mid-Level Systems Engineer with deep experience in implementation and integration of enterprise monitoring, automation orchestration, and cybersecurity solutions within a secure Department of Defense (DoD) environment. This role focuses on hands-on deployment and operational integration of tools and technologies to support mission-critical systems in compliance with PL-3 security requirements. You will be part of a high-power team proving out a prototype for production at full scale. This position requires a deep understanding of V2 principles, DoD systems, and security protocols, as well as the ability to lead and implement complex integration initiatives.

This is a Hybrid position located in Arlington, VA.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the deployment and integration of system monitoring platforms (e.g., Splunk, Nagios, ELK, Prometheus) into existing DoD enterprise infrastructure

Implement and integrate automation and orchestration frameworks using tools like Ansible, Terraform, and custom Python/PowerShell scripts to streamline configuration management and system provisioning

Engineer end-to-end solutions that connect disparate systems, ensuring full interoperability while meeting DoD architecture and security standards

Conduct system-level testing, validation, and performance tuning post-integration to ensure seamless functionality and stability

Build and integrate real-time monitoring capabilities for system health, network performance, and security events across multi-domain environments

Automate repetitive operational tasks and integrate alerting and remediation workflows to reduce human intervention and risk

Support infrastructure-as-code principles to enable repeatable deployments and consistent configuration across systems

Produce integration documentation, configuration guides, and SOPs to support sustainment and audits

Work closely with system architects, security analysts, and DevSecOps teams to align implementations with mission goals and compliance baselines

Participate in design reviews and contribute to strategic planning for future system enhancements and integrations

Integrate security tools and controls into the system lifecycle to meet DoD RMF requirements and PL-3 security controls

Deploy and configure endpoint protection, audit logging, encryption, and other security enforcement tools across hybrid and on-prem environments

Translate PL-3 security requirements into technical implementations that protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

Five (5) years of experience in systems engineering or implementation roles with a focus on voice, video, and file services in secure DoD environments

Proficient in the deployment of monitoring, automation, and security tools in classified or highly regulated environments

Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation and system integration

Demonstrated experience implementing RMF/NIST SP 800-53 security controls, especially for PL-3 and higher environments

Familiarity with STIG applications, RMF processes, and DoD cybersecurity frameworks

Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, cloud-focused environment

CERTIFICATIONS:

DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

Master's degree (Information Technology related field preferred)

DoD 8570 IAT Level III certification; CISSP or equivalent certification

Familiarity with Special Access Program security requirements

EDUCATION LEVEL: Bachelor’s degree in information systems, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
