Job Title: Material Handler – Contract to Hire

Location: Itasca, IL

Shift: 5:00 AM – 4:30 PM Monday–Friday

Pay: $20–$23/hr (Based on experience)

Employment Type: Contract to Hire (6 Months)

Overtime: 15–20 hours/week (Mandatory)

Overview:

A busy manufacturing operation is seeking a highly organized Material Handler to support increased demand and ensure smooth material flow across the production floor. This role involves both hands-on material movement and data entry into ERP systems, so the ideal candidate is equally comfortable on the floor and behind a screen.

This is not a basic warehouse role. We're looking for someone who can manage, track, and record materials accurately, coordinate with internal teams, and play a key role in supporting production schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate movement, storage, and tracking of raw materials, components, and finished products

Accurately enter and maintain inventory data in ERP systems and Excel

Perform routine cycle counts and assist with inventory audits

Collaborate with purchasing, production, and logistics to resolve material shortages or delays

Monitor inventory levels and ensure traceability and compliance

Identify and support continuous improvement efforts related to material handling and inventory processes

Qualifications:

1–3+ years of experience in a material handling or inventory coordination role

Experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred

Strong familiarity with ERP systems and basic to intermediate Excel skills

Proven attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records

Ability to lift and move materials as needed throughout a shift

Comfortable working extended hours and weekends during peak periods

Nice to Have:

Understanding of inventory practices like cycle counts and reconciliation

Experience working cross-functionally with teams like production, purchasing, and logistics

Previous exposure to process improvement or lean inventory initiatives
