Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. With 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, the facility was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. The Perioperative Services staff at Barnes Jewish West County Hospital provide excellent Surgical Care by partnering with an extraordinary team of physicians and health care professionals. They are able to offer the comforts of a small community hospital. combined with the resources of the world-renowned BJC HeathCare System and Washington University Medical School. Our highly educated and dedicated staff continually strive to improve the health of the people and communities they serve.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Performs surgical duties for operating room procedures under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

Prepares operating room for surgical patient, reviews preference cards to determine surgeon needs, obtains the necessary supplies and equipment for the procedure, ensures cleanliness of room, and assists with opening sterile supplies.

Performs surgical scrub duties, and assists with the collection, identification, and disposition of cultures and specimens.

Assists in turning over of room, and ensures supplies, instruments, and equipment are returned to proper location.
