Job Title: Accounting Specialist – Contract to Hire

Location: Elk Grove Village, IL (100% Onsite)

Pay Rate: $25–$27/hr (up to $28/hr for top candidates)

Schedule: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (Some flexibility available)

Employment Type: 3-Month Contract to Hire

Overview:

A small, stable, and fast-paced accounting team is looking for a well-rounded Accounting Specialist with strong double-entry accounting knowledge and the ability to manage high-volume AR/AP tasks. This is a full-time onsite opportunity that could lead to a permanent position after 3 months based on performance.

The right candidate will be a self-starter who thrives in a smaller, team-driven environment where wearing multiple hats is the norm.

Key Responsibilities:

Process 50–80 Accounts Receivable (AR) invoices and 40–50 Accounts Payable (AP) bills weekly

Apply double-entry accounting principles (debits/credits) to ensure accurate financial reporting

Manage bank transactions, incoming/outgoing payments, and general ledger entries

Support logistics functions including shipping documentation and basic inventory tracking

Enter and reconcile transactions in QuickBooks

Perform light reporting and analysis using Excel and/or ERP systems

Maintain accurate records and collaborate closely with accounting leadership

Required Experience & Skills:

3–5 years of hands-on accounting experience

Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office (Excel)

Strong working knowledge of double-entry accounting

Proven ability to handle high volumes of invoices and bills with accuracy

Stable work history and strong attention to detail

Nice to Have:

Experience with Microsoft Business Central (BC)

Excel skills including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables

Background in manufacturing, distribution, or logistics

Exposure to shipping documentation and inventory workflows

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business (not required)
