Behavioral Health Internships – Valley Family Health Care
Valley Family Health Care (VFHC) offers paid and unpaid Behavioral Health internships based on clinic needs and supervisor availability. Interns work as part of an integrated care team, delivering mental health services in primary care and school settings. Duties include providing consults, brief assessments, diagnostic evaluations, counseling, and occasionally group services — all under clinical supervision and in collaboration with medical providers.
Requirements:
Enrollment in an accredited Master’s program (Social Work or Counseling).
Healthcare experience preferred.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Paid positions require being in the final term of study.
Key Responsibilities (under supervision):
Screen, assess, and diagnose clients using DSM-5 criteria.
Deliver evidence-based treatments (e.g., ACT, CBT, DBT).
Develop and update treatment plans with measurable goals.
Provide brief interventions and traditional therapy.
Respond to crises and document services in electronic health records.
Collaborate with medical staff and external agencies.
Attend clinical meetings and uphold ethical standards.
