As our Member Engagement and Communications Manager, you will work closely with the Executive Director in the planning, development, and implementation of membership retention, recruitment, engagement, orientation and recognition programs.

The Member Engagement and Communications Manager is responsible for enhancing the overall experience of our members by identifying needs, improving services, and implementing new offerings.

This role involves managing onboarding, retention efforts, database management, and member engagement programs, developing and managing promotion plans for all Section activities, and developing recruitment initiatives to grow membership and increase participation in meetings and programs.

Success in this role requires a passion for customer centricity, data analysis, change & innovation, critical thinking, relationship building & influencing - all with a focus on results.

Key Responsibilities: Member Needs Assessment: Identify and analyze member needs through surveys, feedback, collection of engagement metrics, and direct interactions.

Execute strategies to enhance current services and introduce new offerings that provide significant value to members.

Development of Member Materials: Create, update, and maintain comprehensive materials on member benefits.

These materials support both recruitment and retention, ensuring they are accurate, engaging, and informative.

Onboarding Management: Oversee mailings, webinars, drip campaigns, and personal outreach to provide an exceptional onboarding experience, ensuring new members and their teams are seamlessly integrated and fully engaged with the association's services and benefits.

Retention Efforts: Lead and manage retention efforts, including developing and executing renewal emails and invoices.

Data Management: Maintain and oversee member data accuracy and integrity.

Track and manage member service requests to ensure timely resolution and thorough reporting.

Reporting: Generate detailed reports on membership statistics and trends.

Provide regular updates to the board and committees on recruitment and retention progress.

Communications Management: Develop and execute the Section's content and communications calendar through email, social media, thought leadership, newsletter, and internal communications content.

Serve as copy writer for written materials, assuring all messaging is consistent, engaging, and aligns with our strategic priorities and brand, including web copy and marketing collateral.

Develop marketing and communications campaigns and collateral for all Section activities in collaboration with the staff team.

Maintain Section website and event microsites to ensure content is timely and relevant.

Stay informed of developments in the field of marketing and communications within the industry to foster ideas and innovation.

Support travel or off-site work, as needed including conference support and other events.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Position requirements: Strong understanding of association membership programs and procedures, especially those related to member engagement tracking.

Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to manage a variety of tasks concurrently, work independently and take initiative.

Working knowledge of AMS databases.

Proficient with all applications in the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.

Proficiency with email communication programs and social media.

Basic graphic design experience for generating social media images and content.

Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.

Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

Practical knowledge, skills and abilities usually acquired through an undergraduate degree and a minimum of 5-7 years of related work experience.

Member-focused mindset with strategic thinking.

Leadership and team management capabilities.

Ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights.
