Position Summary:
Fincantieri Marine Systems (FMS) is seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused QA Inspector / EHS Technician to support operations at our Atlantic Beach, FL facility. This dual-role position is responsible for ensuring product and process quality in accordance with applicable standards and for assisting in the implementation and monitoring of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have experience in quality inspection within an industrial or marine environment and a strong understanding of OSHA regulations and EHS best practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance (QA) Responsibilities:
Conduct in-process and final inspections on mechanical, electrical, and structural components, ensuring compliance with specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
Maintain accurate inspection records, nonconformance reports (NCRs), and corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs).
Perform receiving inspections of materials and vendor-supplied components.
Interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and specifications.
Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
Support audits (internal and external) and assist in maintaining ISO or NAVSEA quality management system requirements.
Verify calibration of inspection tools and equipment.
Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Responsibilities:
Assist with implementation and monitoring of site-specific safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company standards.
Conduct routine EHS inspections and audits of the facility and work activities to identify and mitigate hazards.
Support incident investigations and root cause analysis; track corrective actions.
Maintain EHS records, including SDS files, safety meeting logs, PPE inventories, and training documentation.
Assist in employee training sessions related to workplace safety, hazardous materials handling, and emergency procedures.
Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to continuous improvement Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in quality, safety, or related field preferred.
2+ years of experience in quality inspection, EHS, or industrial safety in a manufacturing, marine, or defense environment.
Working knowledge of QA/QC principles, EHS regulations, and inspection methodologies.
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documentation.
Familiarity with ISO 9001, OSHA standards, and NAVSEA or military specifications is a plus.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to obtain and maintain DBIDS
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Capable of climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and standing for extended periods.
Comfortable with occasional exposure to industrial noise, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures.
Work Environment:
This position is based in a mixed industrial/office setting with frequent visits to production areas and shipyard sites. The role may require occasional travel to other FMS locations or customer facilities.
