The Franklin & Marshall English Department invites applications for a one -year position in 18th and 19th century British/Anglophone literature, beginning Fall 2025. We would especially welcome specialization in empire, colonialism/decolonization, and/or diaspora. The rank will be Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Instructor, depending on qualifications. Appointment is for nine months (August - May). This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship. Applicants should possess or be close to completing a doctorate (or terminal degree) in English. Teaching experience required. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience teaching literature beyond composition. The teaching load is 3/3, and includes one course in the College’s general education curriculum, Connections.

The committee will begin reviewing applications on February 21st and continue until the position has been filled.
