Description:

-Practical knowledge and understanding of National Electrical code guidelines required. Knowledge and understanding of

safe electrical practices, safe hot work practices, confine space regulations and DOT pipeline safety devices.

- Recognizes and understands definitions and abbreviations used in electrical, electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic

instrumentation technologies.

- Applies terms, definitions, and concepts from mechanics, electricity, heat and chemistry. (Solutions may involve simple

formulas for figuring flash point, specific gravity, and expansion rate.)

- Reads schematics and wiring diagrams.

- Understands calibration sheets, instrument specification sheets and installation details and recognize standard symbols.

- Understands and recognizes electrical and electronic units of measurement such as volts, amps, watts, ohms, hertz,

farads, etc.; basic components (batteries, voltage sources, current sources, resistors, capacitors, inductors, transistors

and integrated circuits).

- Applies the principles of pneumatics as used in industrial instrumentation.

- Understands the terminology (PSIG, PSIA, supply air, instrument air, signal); components (links, levers, flapper or baffle,

nozzle, relay, vents, filters); and pneumatic circuitry.

- Possesses the knowledge to understand current-voltage-resistance relationships in direct current circuits. Apply Ohm’s

Law.

- Possesses the knowledge to understand current-voltage-impedance relationships in alternating current circuits.

- Understands basic trouble shooting methods for motors, contactors, transformers, relays, and lighting. Recognizes power

quality problems.

- Reads and interprets wiring and ladder diagrams.

- Possesses the ability to understand the operation of basic electric/electronic test equipment (DC power supplies,

milliamp calibrators, millivolt calibrators, multimeters, signal sources, function generators, oscilloscopes, decade boxes,

Wheatstone bridges, impedance testers and frequency generators); calibration procedures for electric and electronic

transmitters, controllers and control valve actuators; bench repair of various electric and electronic instruments and

components (circuit boards, power supplies, relays, receiver and transmitter elements).

- Inspects and replaces power cords and distribution cables. Locate and replace faulty resistors, capacitors, inductors,

transistors, IC units and printed circuit (PC) boards.

- Uses appropriate test equipment, soldering techniques, wire wrap techniques, hand tools, component and wire

identification documentation.

- Understands the types of pneumatic and electronic transmitters used in level measurement, the calibration of each and

the test instruments used.

- Connects pneumatic and electronic level sensors and transducers for accurate calibration.

- Installs and maintains truck loading, additive injection, and pipeline proving and control systems (where applicable).

- Possesses a basic understanding of Cathodic Protection.

This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.

High school diploma or GED required.

3 years of electrical & instrumentation field experience or other industry related experience required.

Practical knowledge and understanding of National Electrical code guidelines required.

Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
